Vibram Five Fingers - Love them!!

This weekend Chris and I gave in and went to get some Vibram Five Finger shoes. WE LOVE THEM!!! My dad had started the trend in my family about a year or two ago. At first I thought they looked ridiculous. Then I got curious. My brothers turned into avid runners?? WTF? These boys were weight lifters not RUNNERS?! My little brother was even training for a half marathon this November... until he got hurt running 10 miles BAREFOOT!!!

So we talked to my dad, and learned a lot about the barefoot running revolution. While I'm not completely ready to RUN in them, I wanted them for working out. I have never had good luck with work out shoes. I have semi wide and flat feet with little arch, so my body is always fighting my shoes in one way or another. I get knee tweaks, and ankle pains, and weird sore muscles. I wore natural sport walking shoes for the 5K walk last weekend. I wear MBTs when I was at work in Cali, so the rocker bottom shouldn't have been the issue. The next day, I had THE WORST shin splints. I iced them, rubbed them... nothing helped. I worked out Monday, nothing crazy, just the elliptical no rise, just a little resistance, and even that I kept low due to my shin splints. Then my quads/thighs started KILLING me. Then my calves... I mean by Friday I should have been feeling better right? NOPE still totally sore. Getting out of bed hurt. After walking around I'd loosen up a little bit, but it hurt to walk to with shoes on.

On Saturday we wandered all over town trying to track down these shoes. Apparently stores only carry one or two styles and a limited number of sizes. So finally we found em. I went in thinking I wanted a sort of mary jane style, more open on top. Chris went in wanting the hybrid good for everything style. In the end we found out that I liked the hybrid everything style and he got the one made for running as it's narrower for his foot.

Here's my KSOs and his Bikilas!!
